As part of the Integrated Regional Strategy, Space4trees is ‘owned’ by all those in the East Midlands who have an interest in the sustainable management of our trees and woodland resources.
As the Government’s statutory adviser and key delivery body on forestry matters, and also as the public body tasked with co-ordinating the Regional Framework process, there is a responsibility on the Forestry Commission to give a clear lead in terms of policy and actions.
For others, who have endorsed and supported Space4trees, the challenge is to demonstrate their support though practical action and the consistent promotion of our key message that our trees and woodlands really do matter.
In this way we can spread the message and gather support (political, organisational and practical) to turn the vision into a reality.
Great care has been taken to ensure that Space4trees is complimentary to, and integrated with the wider regional framework of policies and strategies.
It will therefore become part of a continuous process of monitoring, review and revision, designed to ensure that our approach to sustainable development is working and that it remains responsive to our changing needs and circumstances.
